"We installed the Prodif 88 in our system and the first thing I noticed was that the sound in general was clearer and more open. I couldn't figure out how this could be, since we only use external converters. When I analyzed the input signal from the converters I noticed that the noise floor had dropped by 20dB compared to our earlier RME interface! With the converters going into the RME interface (AES/EBU) the noise floor was 98dBFS at 24bit/44.1K, which was very surprising, since the specification for the converters is at -115dBFS. After switching to the Prodif 88, the noisefloor was down to 116.8 dBFS - which is fantastic.
"The analog outputs are great - since we do vocal tracking from time to time, this lets us send out a monitor cue to the vocalist without compromising the monitoring in the studio, which was necessary when going into a converter through a mixer and splitting it up from there. With the Prodiff 88, it's also great to be able to route the signal anywhere you like directly from the computer. Before this, manual connections were necessary, which greatly slows down the flow of a session. All in all, the Prodif 88 has made a dramatic difference in our work."
